CARD OF THE DAY: THE DEVIL

The Devil - XVThe Devil: Balanced, strong, and confident, now we are asked to confront our shadow selves, the dark aspects of ourselves that we fear and that may control us in subtle ways. These may be aspects that we learned to control or repress in the Strength card. This worked well for a while, before we had the knowledge and experience not just to ignore and repress these aspects. Now we need to revisit them, learn to appreciate the positive qualities they can bring to our lives, and synthesize them appropriately.

Intriguing, powerful, compelling; what a dangerous and attractive figure this is. The mask, while adding to the mysterious allure, warns us that this man is hiding something. He wears a pentacle, giving a hint of his earthiness and sensual pleasures. However, because his eyes are blinded, he pursues these pleasures blindly, without consideration for anything else. He is obsession, bondage, and destructive practices. He is what happens — what we can become — when our lives go very badly out of balance.

The message of the Devil is a warning, a cautionary tale. If Temperance is perfect balance perfectly expressed, the Devil is imperfect balance recklessly pursued. Anything in the extreme — eating, working, sexual activity, exercising — leads to an unbalanced life. Take heed and moderate your behavior. Keep watch for obsessions in your life. Do not let any belief or practice overshadow all other aspects of your life or your responsibilities to yourself and others.

Be aware of being so afraid of pleasures out of fear of addiction that you repress or deny all desires, even healthy ones.

The Devil is the card Spirit shows me to suggest being filled with an intense sense of frustration, anger, or even rage…primarily over blindness about what is to come in the future with regard to the question at hand. She also shows me this as a caution that this energy is getting out of control and becoming all-consuming…so much so that it may manifest itself in the physical body in the form of abdominal pain or digestive disorders.

As you contemplate your day today think about how The Devil may be having an effect in your life and current situation. If you feel his influence then this is a good time to take heed, change your attitude, outlook, or direction, and alter the future of the situation.

Psychic Ability and the Existence of God

Hand of God and AdamIt may seem strange to contemplate the idea of psychic ability as proof that “God” exists, but I think it’s a worthwhile discussion.

In my work as a professional psychic advisor…or intuitive counselor, as I prefer to label myself…I’ve experienced unexplainable connection with energies that provide me with insights into individual’s personal thoughts, feelings, relationships, and future which (hopefully) help to guide them on their life path toward best life choices and directions.

Many people may assume, incorrectly, that these experiences support, or are even evidence for, the existence of a God.

I’ve struggled with this question myself, having developed my own (what I feel is logical and sensible) understanding of the meaning of life, what happened before we came here in this physical life form, and what happens when we leave at the time of death.

Yet, I can still say with absolute certainty that none of these experiences and understandings would go so far as to prove or support the existence of a supreme Creator…at least not one that has been described by the organized religions of this world.

“But,” you might say, “what about your connection to Spirit and the messages you receive from loved ones who have passed on? Don’t those prove that God is real?”

The answer to that question comes in two parts;

1. Yes, I had a very real experience/vision of a Heavenly Mother figure when I was 26 years old from whom I received a profound message of Love and Protection. And yes, I feel a connection both to “Her” energy as well as to the energies of my clients and those in their circle of influence.

Those facts still don’t prove the existence of an Eternal and Supreme Creator.

2. Regarding messages received from loved ones who have passed on…I do receive special insight, compassion, sympathy, connection, and personalized messages of Love and guidance for the person asking the question.

This gives us belief in, and hope for, a life or many lives, following this one. But it still does not prove the existence of an all-powerful God or Supreme Creator.

In my experience there is a connection between humans that is undeniable. Some people call it intuition…others call it psychic ability. And some of us are more keenly attuned to these energies than others. I can’t fully explain this ability. I just know that I have always had it and I know that, like other natural abilities, (art, music, etc.) it can be cultivated and developed so that you are more aware.

But none of these things can confirm (or deny) the existence of an eternal Creator.

Personally, I consider myself an anti-theist, meaning that I don’t subscribe to belief in any of the gods and goddesses currently worshiped and revered by existing organized religions. However, I don’t have any evidence to prove that there is no Supreme Creator, either, so I remain open to possibility.

Regardless, the concept of whether or not a God exists does not alter my intuitive experience and feeling of connection between myself, my clients and the insight I receive from Spirit.

What are your thoughts on the matter? I’d love to hear your feedback and opinions!

Blessings and Hugs,

Tracy

WHAT IS A SOUL MATE

In this enlightening video Psychic Medium Tracy Johnson shares her understanding of the term Soul Mate. She also explains Kindred Spirit relationships, etc.

Upheaval

The Tower - XVII rarely perform readings for myself. I can do it…many psychics can’t. It’s just that I don’t normally feel the need for guidance in my personal life.

But the last couple of weeks have been exceptionally disturbing and unusual for me, so I just decided to do a spontaneous reading on the energies surrounding me…to see what Spirit had to say on it.

Per usual, I was astonished by how sensitive and in-touch the reading was with what is going on both outside of and inside of me right now.

The first two cards I was given were The Tower (pictured to the left here) and immediately following that…Death. Death - XIIIBoth of which reflect the upheaval surrounding me currently and are having a profound influence in my life at present.

Two weeks ago yesterday, on July 13th, my children’s father and my first husband (of 17 years) suddenly and unexpectedly died. He was 53 years old.

His death has created a huge hole in their lives and the lives of our grand children…and has taught me an immense lesson regarding the importance of not leaving words unspoken or feelings unresolved.

The Saturday following his death I received a brief message from my older sister on Facebook saying that my mother had been rushed to the hospital via ambulance because a tumor on her chest was hemorrhaging uncontrollably. The diagnosis is stage 4 cancer and she has, in the last 4 days, begun chemo therapy treatment.

My reading goes on to display the Two of Swords Swords - II, accurately depicting my current state of internal conflict and indecision regarding my own future. The events that have transpired over the last couple of weeks have made me acutely aware of my own mortality and the importance of juicing life for all it’s worth. And yet, they also make me feel numb and melancholy and I’ve had a hard time really connecting with Spirit…at least where “work” is concerned. There is a blindness about what the future holds…but the message from Spirit here is that I will continue to remain in this conflicted state until and unless I make a firm decision and move forward boldly, with confidence…not looking back with fear or regret.

Next, my reading revealed Strength Strength - VIII, not only indicating that these events in my life are going to require that I dig deep and access the inner strength necessary to get my life back on track…but also confirming that I DO have the strength needed to move through and beyond these circumstances, and on to taking back control of my life. But it will require that I learn to tame my own inner demons in order to find the peace and calm required for my own continued personal growth and development.

Spirit then went on to say (in her use of the Queen of Wands) that though I have the strength and power to act with confidence…still, I am blocking emotional connection because of all of the dark energy surrounding me at present. You can see from the Wands - Qemotions in her face that this Queen is not happy. She is on guard and feeling defensive, when it comes to emotional connection. She wants to be self-protective…thinking that if she blocks connection somehow she will be able to protect herself from further hurt and pain. But this is just an illusion…and one that doesn’t even make her happy.

The World - XXI

Next in my reading Spirit shows me, with The World card, that I will have success in overcoming these challenges and that this is the end of a cycle for me. A Life Lesson of great significance, but one which will help move me forward in my Soul Progression and help me achieve success in this lifetime.

Wands - Kn

The reading then comforts me by showing me (with the Knight of Wands) that a message of hope and emotional connection and support is coming from a male energy in my life (my sweetheart, Jeff) and that he will help me though this difficult time because (as depicted in the last card; the King of Wands) he is in a better position of emotional power and strength right now and his focus is on his Love and intuitive connection to me.

Wands - KThis reading was very beneficial to me in a time of spiritual and emotional need. It helped rekindle my trust in the message of Spirit…even when I am feeling a great sense of personal loss and grief.

I hope that sharing this reading and experience with you that you will also find hope and light in times of darkness in your own life.

I know that it’s difficult to recover from the loss of loved ones or to help those close to us go through the personal trials of life-altering illness and disease. Sometimes we just want to be angry and resentful. And that’s ok. It’s part of the grieving process. But it can be very beneficial to take time to reflect on those feelings…and to express them. Writing (like I am now) can be very cathartic and healing in times such as these. Even if you don’t share your thoughts with anyone else. The act of writing your feelings out can help to clarify, in your own mind, what you are experiencing and why. And writing those feelings down can help to get them “un-stuck” and out of your mind and body so that you are then better able to heal and move on with life.

Thanks for all of your love and support.

Blessings and Hugs,

Tracy

How Does Spirituality Impact Your Daily Life?

PrayerAs a professional psychic medium it is my job to work with people, on a daily basis, who are unsatisfied with some aspect of their life; relationships, finances, and health issues being the top three areas of concern.

This unusual career path has given me the unique opportunity to look into other’s thoughts, feelings, and emotions to gain an intimate view of their fears, vulnerabilities, and problems. It is my job to consult Spirit, on their behalf, to offer insight and guidance that will hopefully enable and empower each seeker to find meaning and direction along their own, individual path.

Another aspect of my work, however, is acting as a teacher…helping my clients understand that we each have psychic ability, to one degree or another, and assisting them in the discovery process of learning how to access this ability and apply it to bless and enrich their own lives.

In that spirit, I offer this month’s Psychic Blessing newsletter. I hope it will give you something of substance to think about and consider implementing to enrich your daily life.

How Does Spirituality Impact Your Love Life on a Daily Basis?

Happy CoupleI am frequently baffled by the number of people who come to me wanting to know if I can cast a spell that will compel another person to change their attitude or behavior so that they (themselves) will then be happy. Many times clients want to know if I can perform a “Love Spell” on the other person to make them fall in love with them. My answer is always the same…

The only person you can truly change is YOU. Yes, spells can be very powerful. Just like prayers can be powerful. In fact, the two are very closely related. But here is the key…the person the spell is cast upon must know about it and BELIEVE in it in order for it to have an effect in their life. Just as all the Masters of every great world religion has alway said when performing miracles “BY YOUR FAITH”…are you healed, the blind made to see, the lame made to walk, etc.

Allow me to illustrate – Let’s say when you were a teenager someone older than you and whom you viewed to be in a position of authority came to you, looked you in the eye, and said “You are stupid! You are good for nothing and you will never accomplish anything in your life!” That person just cast a spell on you. They planted a seed in your mind. But whether it takes root and grows…has an influence on your future…or not, is completely dependent upon whether or not you choose to NURTURE that seed. Give it POWER in your life. So, yes, spells can be very powerful…but only on the person it is cast upon IF they a.) Know about it, and b.) Give it power to have influence in their own life. We can never COMPEL someone else to do anything they do not want or at least agree to do. Free will is an eternal law.

But what we CAN do is learn about a particular person’s wants, desires, interests…and then BECOME a person who would be more attractive to them. Listen to them, learn compassion, emotionally connect with them and genuinely care about who they are. This DOESN’T mean we should try to be someone other than who we truly are in order to “trick” another person into falling in love with us. What it does mean is that we can become more sensitive to them, as a person.

But the most powerful way Spirituality can have an impact on your love life is by helping you connect with your true Soul Mate. Most people just “fall into” a relationship…with someone who was never meant to be life-long partner. But many times our ego and pride, and more often than not, our HORMONES, get in the way… and we want to force something that really wasn’t intended. I will discuss this topic in more detail in an upcoming newsletter…

How Does Spirituality Impact Your Finances and Career on a Daily Basis?

MoneyI love to engage people when I’m out and about! I’m a very social person, so when I’m at the grocery store or talking to an employee at a business I’m frequenting, one of my favorite topics of discussion is how the person I’m talking to enjoys their job. More often than not the response I get is that they can’t stand their work. They can hardly wait until they get off…thank goodness it’s Friday, etc. I find it curious how many people feel stuck in a job or occupation that, if they are lucky, they find tolerable, but more likely, they really can’t stand doing. If I press for more information people are almost always ready and more than willing to share all the details of why they detest their job; their boss is a jerk, they feel taken advantage of, they have been passed up for promotion, they aren’t getting paid what they are worth, etc., etc., etc.

I can relate because I, too, have held positions in the past as an employee, punching a time clock, and bemoaning my existence “just to pay the bills.” Fortunately, it has been a long time now since either my husband or I have held a job working for someone else. Jeff and I have been self-employed for many years now and neither of us can imagine working a regular, 9-5 JOB any longer. Given that, I know first hand the difference between having the freedom to stay up as late as I like, get up whenever my body is naturally ready to wake, going to the movies in the middle of the afternoon…in the middle of the week and having the theater to ourselves, taking time off whenever I desire, determining my own value and charging what I am worth…versus forcing myself to go to bed at 9:30pm so that I can wake up to that annoying beeping of the alarm clock at 4:30 in the morning, living for the weekend and having to endure the masses of humanity at the events and venues we go to, scheduling time off, in advance, or skipping exciting opportunities if the vacation time is denied, accepting a per-hour rate of pay that is far below what I am worth and holding out for a pay-raise of a few cents or at most, a few dollars once a year…etc. The difference is night and day!

We’ve all heard the saying “Do what you love and the money will come.” And there really is truth to that expression. However, most people feel so trapped in the 9-5 rat-race that they become immobilized. They are so exhausted from doing all that they can just to survive that they don’t have the mental or physical energy to break out and do what they really love. And all of this has a direct impact on your spiritual life.

However, the key piece of that puzzle that most people are missing is that Spirit can help to define and clarify the path OUT of this trap! Making the time to simply consult Spirit on a daily basis…to get in touch with what you are superbly qualified to do…finding your true passion and “calling”…will change your whole experience and outlook on life!

And you CAN do it! But you must have the desire, first. And more than desire…you must have the BELIEF that it is possible to find your true calling in life.

And when you do that, your JOB will become your passion…and then your passion will lead you to the wealth and abundance you yearn for.

How Does Spirituality Impact Your Health on a Daily Basis?

DepressionMost people think about they ways spirituality has an effect on their personal relationships, and some even make the leap to embrace the ways that our mindset and attitude/spiritual outlook can change our reality when it comes to money, profession, and what we manifest in the material world. However, few have given serious consideration to the ways that spirituality can have a direct impact on our physical health and well-being.

Granted, numerous people will come to me and ask if I will add them or their loved one to my prayer list to send positive energy when there is a serious illness…cancer, heart disease, surgeries, etc…in the hope that this positive energy will protect them from harm and even assist in the healing process.

Not nearly as many, though, think about pursuing the much wiser course of considering how spirituality can help PREVENT illness and disease before it sets in and takes hold of us.

The body truly is the “temple” of the soul. But rather than deify it, as some religions do, suggesting that it is evil or sinful to put anything into the body or do anything to it that would somehow corrupt it, making it an unfit house for the “sacred” soul aspect of our being, I prefer to think of the body simply as our vehicle in this lifetime. It is what enables us, as spirit-based beings, to travel…to come and go and have our experiences. The condition of the vehicle has a direct impact on the quality of our life experience. And so, in order to facilitate a Top Notch “ride”, it just makes good sense to take care of this vehicle, since it is the only one we have in a given lifetime. What that means is that, similar to the way you would take care of your automobile, you want to make sure you not only schedule regular maintenance and tune ups…but you also want to take the extra steps to properly fuel your vehicle so that you can increase your own longevity and prevent blockages, “rust buildup”, leaks, cracks in the fuel lines, overheating the radiator, dings in the windshield, etc. I think you get my analogy ;) So, from a spiritual perspective, this means taking time, each day, to carefully consider the care and maintenance of your body. Not only should you think about physical activity and exercise, but you should also give serious thought to what kind of mental stimulation you allow in (and out), as well as the quality of fuel you consume. When we take the time to make this a spiritual exercise, we bring in an element of awareness that is not present in the mundane world. There has been considerable research done to show the correlation between the beliefs you hold and how they have a direct relation to your physical health. Likewise, the kind of food you consume (think eating “clean” without any processed sugars, grains, or animal products) has a direct effect on your health, which then has a significant effect on how you are feeling, mentally, emotionally, and physically. And there is a very distinct correlation between how you are feeling in your body and your ability to tune into Spirit and receive the guidance and direction you need to move and act, in confidence, in your daily life.

Our access to “Higher Self” is definitely related to our state of mind…which is related to our physical well being…which is related to how we care for our body, mind, and soul. It’s a circular relationship. So, the more in tune we are with what we need to do to keep these other aspects of our being in shape, the more in tune we will be with Spirit…and vice versa.

On the flip side…taking the time to learn more about how to access Spirit, and seeking guidance on a regular basis, will help guide you to the best methods, practices, and nourishment needed in order to facilitate the overall health and wellness of the entire being. If you don’t already have a particular “practice” (prayer, meditation, self-hypnosis, consulting tarot cards, runes, i ching, a pendulum, carrying crystals, etc.) then you may want to give some serious thought and consideration to a new ritual that would work for you. Each person is different, so the tools and methods you adopt will need to be a good fit for you. I will discuss this in more detail in another newsletter…

CARD OF THE DAY: THREE OF SWORDS

Three of Swords

The Gilded Tarot by Ciro Marchetti – www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The Three of Swords depicts a large heart set against a dark and stormy sky. It is pierced by three swords. Clearly this is about a broken heart very dramatically and tragically expressed. Look at the image carefully. The sun, representing the self, is centered on the heart. The ego is identifying completely with the emotional distress being depicted, making it appear bigger than it should be.

You have experienced a heartbreak. However, you are not seeing the effects of this heartbreak clearly. Although it is difficult to end a relationship, it does not mean the end of your life…which is possibly how you are feeling.

In my readings Spirit frequently shows me this card to signify that there is a sense of betrayal based on communication issues where at least three persons are involved. Many times this energy suggests infidelity or cheating in a relationship, whether physical, emotional, or a combination of both. Though this card is not exclusively about romantic relationships. This energy can also apply to business, family, or other relationships.

If this card is having an influence in your life today, try to get centered and balanced so that you can calmly reflect on the source of this situation and the means to heal or resolve it.

CARD OF THE DAY: THE LOVERS

The Lovers - VI

The Gilded Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti – www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The message of The Lovers tells us to make good and balanced choices. In fact, the original meaning of this card in the earliest Tarot decks was called the Choice and showed a man choosing between two women. Consider all the facets before committing to any decision. Choose well and build a foundation that can help you achieve your best dreams.

In my readings, Spirit frequently shows me this card to suggest that there is a strong physical attraction or passionate sexual energy involved in the situation…but not necessarily indicating a sense of long-term committed relationship, marriage, or soul mate connection. It doesn’t preclude those possibilities…but would depend on the remainder of the cards in the reading and how the overall message comes together.

Beware of letting one element of a choice overshadow all else. A relationship based primarily on a physical attraction, a career with only an intellectual appeal, or a home opportunity with decadent amenities may not be the best choice in the long run.

CARD OF THE DAY: NINE OF SWORDS

Nine of Swords

The Gilded Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti – www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The Nine of Swords depicts a woman sitting in bed who appears to have been awakened abruptly by a bad dream. The nine swords hovering above her head indicate that this woman is clearly troubled by some significant problems…so much so that they are disturbing her sleep. The owl, symbol of wisdom, is standing by ready to offer his insight and assistance. But for now, she seems to feel alone and closed off. In a self-protective state. In this time of trial and great sadness she would do well to reach out to others for the comfort and wisdom she needs.

If this card has influence in your life today it signifies that you are agonizing over something and for whatever reason, you seem to be suffering through it alone, even though help is nearby. This is a good time to reach out and allow someone else to help, guide, and comfort you.

Beware of isolation. You may feel completely cut off from others or it may be pride that is stopping you from reaching out. Know that you are not truly alone and that your pride could cost you more than you know.

CARD OF THE DAY: THE TOWER

The Tower - XVI

The Gilded Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti – www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The Tower represents our own view of the world and has been carefully crafted to be tall, strong, and beautiful. We expect it to last a lifetime or longer. But when it is hit by lightening…a literal bolt from out of the blue, our perfect image is destroyed. The bolt represents, in one form or another, some kind of sudden illumination or realization that shakes us to our very core and turns our world upside down. We fall, like the naked man on the card, and find that we have to rebuild. Even though it may look like we have nothing to work with. However, we must remember to acknowledge what that flash of lightening has revealed to us. Our belief system has been shattered. But the good news is that the shattering has usually revealed a profound truth which we should not ignore. Knowing the truth is good…as ignorance is not ever really bliss.

Beware of allowing this experience to give you an excuse to over-dramatize the situation. Seek balance and view this upheaval as an opportunity to move into new experiences utilizing the wisdom you have gained through difficulty to create a better, healthier, and more gratifying life.

CARD OF THE DAY: KING OF CUPS

Cups - KMeaning: The King of Cups depicts a slightly melancholy king sitting on his throne, staring off into the distance. Even though he has great power, he seems to be missing something.

You may be fortunate in your achievements and you have likely accomplished much. Perhaps you have built a good business or career. You likely have a stable and loving family life. Even though these things give you a sense of satisfaction, there is still a longing in your heart. You feel an emptiness inside or a void which seeks to be filled. Even though you have gained power and accomplishments, you have lost touch with your creative side.

If this card has influence in your life today, seek an artistic or creative outlet and nurture your emotions. Resist focusing on what you don’t have. If you focus too much on the things that are missing from your life, you can grow bitter and resentful. You may tend to give in to pouting and assume a “victim mentality” which could prevent you from taking care of your existing obligations or even truly appreciating the blessings in your life.

CARD OF THE DAY: EIGHT OF WANDS

Eight of Wands

The Gilded Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti -
www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The Eight of Wands tells us that things are set in motion and will happen quickly. You are waiting for a particular outcome and you will not have to wait long. The wheels are already in motion and there is no need for you to try to artificially manipulate the situation in order to achieve a specific result. Events are set in play and moving speedily to their inexorable conclusion.

Be warned against doing anything to interfere. If you alter the movement of one of the wands, the others, because of their close proximity to one another, will be effected. The connections here are intricate and you may not be able to see what the larger ramifications of your actions may be.

If the Eight of Wands is having an influence in your life today you likely ache to take action. You want to DO something in order to influence the outcome. Try to be patient and trust that things will work themselves out. Your interference may have an effect on the outcome…and not necessarily to your liking or benefit. Be still and trust.

CARD OF THE DAY: EIGHT OF SWORDS

Eight of Swords

The Gilded Tarot Royale by Ciro Marchetti – www.ciromarchetti.com

Meaning: The Eight of Swords depicts a woman controlled by fear. There is a sense of feeling helpless. You are blinded and cannot see. You feel trapped and sense danger all around you. The interesting part is that you are not struggling in this situation. Essentially, this condition is of your own making…or, rather, you are completely empowered to change it. You just need the courage to do so. This situation has to do with communication issues. Do not give up your personal power. Take control of your life. Do not be blinded and bound by fear.

Is the Eight of Swords having an influence in your life today? If so, meditate on the advice being offered by Spirit here and choose to alter the outcome and your experience.

“Would you like me to add you to my Prayer List?”

Psychic Medium Tracy JohnsonAs a professional psychic counselor I find that many times people just want someone to listen to them. To hear their concerns, feel compassion for them, and even take an active role in doing what they can to ease the person’s fear and pain.

I learned an interesting lesson working in a public psychic reading room. Many times as I was interacting with my guests someone would begin telling me about a particular concern that was on their mind; a family member is sick or has cancer and is going in for surgery, they themselves are stressing over a relationship or money concerns, etc. Frequently these people don’t have the money to pay for a private reading…but they still want some kind of help. Compassion. A lifting of the emotional burden that is weighing heavily upon them. So, my go-to response is always to ask them if they would like me to add them or their person to my Prayer List? I’ve never had someone like this respond by saying “Naaa, I don’t need that.” Instead, they eagerly offer me the details of the person in need…date of birth, first name, and what they would like me to pray FOR. And then an interesting thing happens…almost everyone else in the room observing this interaction immediately jumps into the conversation wanting to know if I could please add them or their person of concern to my Prayer List, as well! It’s like a domino effect!

And then I began noticing another phenomenon. While on Facebook I frequently notice people posting requests for prayer. Which I find interesting because Facebook is a generic “social networking” kind of site. Which is GREAT for connecting with everyone you know and staying in touch. But I also observed something else about people posting prayer requests on Facebook…it’s not necessarily the ideal location for publishing spiritual concerns. Most people have a mixed bag of contacts on their Facebook account. Not all of whom may fully appreciate viewing those requests for prayer (if they are not spiritual people), OR you may prefer to share your prayers only with a select group…say family or church members…rather than posting to your entire social network. But there has been no place specifically dedicated to addressing our spiritual support and prayer needs. Until now!

Unlike Facebook and Twitter, which are environments designed for connecting with everyone in your social circle, Psychic Blessing offers a uniquely spiritual setting where people who wish to send and receive specifically spiritual messages of love, compassion, and support can come for that purpose.

In addition to the ability to post and respond to daily prayer requests on the site, we have also incorporated features to provide for Group Interaction! Now anyone with a group of members desiring one central place to connect can come to Psychic Blessing for that purpose! Think about it…an online environment where all of your group members can come to see all of your other members’ prayer requests and other relevant thoughts posted in one centralized location! In addition to that, we also decided to offer Group Chatrooms where multiple members can logon anytime for a live chat! Here are some of our ideas for utilizing these features; 1. Online, text-based prayer requests to pastors & other clergy members which can be answered all in one environment at the pastor’s leisure, 2. Scheduled Live Chat bible studies, book clubs, prayer meetings, classes, seminars, etc., 3. Spontaneous member support chats when the chat rooms aren’t scheduled for meetings. Each group could spawn off several chatrooms – each for a different purpose – if it serves the group better to do so. Your options are practically endless! 4. Meeting environments for other groups and organizations such as Cancer Support groups, Preemie Parents support groups, or other health or “cause” related support groups, etc. We have even discovered…to our surprise…that the live group chatrooms are a GREAT place for family members from multiple locations to come to connect all in one, online location! We are connecting in real-time with all of our family members now using the chat rooms at Psychic Blessing ! It’s AWESOME!

It is our hope and prayer that this new, online, spiritual community will provide a uniquely spiritual place for you to come and share your spiritual self and needs. We want to support you! We want to pray WITH and FOR you! And we’ve created all of this for you to use FREE of charge!

I hope you’ll come and share in our vision! And share it with your friends and loved ones.

I invite you to connect with me in person! I am here most days and would love to meet you!

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WANTS AND NEEDS

Psychic Medium Tracy Johnson

If you are reading this post you are likely someone who already knows about the Blessing Scroll I have recently added to my website. A place where people may publish requests for prayer or blessing, for themselves or another person they know of who has a need for love, light, and positive energy to be sent their way.

In response to a post about this service on my Facebook page someone mentioned that we should pray for people’s needs. Not their wants. And this got me thinking. In fact, I find it interesting that I just had a discussion about this subject with my 29 year old son two days ago. It’s actually a very interesting topic to probe and pursue.

So, what really is the difference between wants and needs? I think most people would agree that a want is something that we would simply like to have, but which is not necessary for survival. A need, then, would usually be defined as something required to sustain life. However, when I go to dictionary.com in search of a qualified definition, here is what I find:

want/wɒnt, wɔnt/ Show Spelled [wont, wawnt]

verb (used with object)

1.to feel a need or a desire for; wish for: to want one’s dinner; always wanting something new.
2.to wish, need, crave, demand, or desire (often followed by an infinitive): I want to see you. She wants to be notified.
3.to be without or be deficient in: to want judgment; to want knowledge.
4.to fall short by (a specified amount): The sum collected wants but a few dollars of the desired amount.
5.to require or need: The house wants painting.

need /nid/ Show Spelled [need]

noun

1.a requirement, necessary duty, or obligation: There is no need for you to go there.
2.a lack of something wanted or deemed necessary: to fulfill the needs of the assignment.
3.urgent want, as of something requisite: He has no need of your charity.
4.necessity arising from the circumstances of a situation or case: There is no need to worry.
5.a situation or time of difficulty; exigency: to help a friend in need; to be a friend in need.

As we can see, then, the two are almost interchangeable. So, it seems necessary to explore a little deeper, because I have observed that there is a perception in society that has to do with our core belief about “goodness” or “righteousness” or even being “worthy” when it comes to these two little words. Somehow we embrace the idea that NEEDS are valid, because we could not get along without them. But WANTS are relegated to a lesser position, because they have to do with things that don’t appear to be required for survival.

But let’s take it one step further. Why do we need to survive? This is an interesting question, isn’t it? We really don’t NEED to survive. But we certainly WANT to survive! We need to survive in order to continue to have experiences. To accumulate knowledge and understanding. To have interactions. But do we really NEED any of this? Or does it come down to a matter of WANTING?

I have found that when someone says they need to do a certain thing or be a certain way , and they are probed on the WHY behind their perceived need, most people become defensive. Because they themselves don’t even know why they feel that need. Mostly, though, if we press the issue, it usually comes down to a want more than a need. They WANT approval from a certain person or organization (spouse, child, mother, father, sibling, pastor, “God”, congregation, community, government official, etc.) But in reality, this approval isn’t a matter of NEED at all. It’s more a matter of WANT or DESIRE.

Survival is a different issue. Certainly, if we WANT to survive, then we do have particular NEEDS. The body requires specific nutrients and protections in order to maintain health and wellness. We need food, water, shelter and clothing to protect us from the elements. And it has been scientifically proven that humans (and probably other mammals) need love and emotional connection with other living beings in order to survive.  Many of these needs can only be met when we are actively involved as a member of a community. Isolation makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to acquire these things and sustain life. And even if it were possible to acquire all of these things on our own, the quality of our existence would be severely diminished without meaningful interaction with others. Because of this, we feel the need to build and sustain relationships. And those relationships come with responsibilities, obligations, and expectations.

This is where (I believe) we tend to differentiate between something being a NEED versus a WANT.

So then, the question seems to come down to, WHY. Why do we need to survive at all? Because we WANT to. We have a very strong inner program that compells us to yearn for more. MORE, MORE, MORE! We want to continue having our experiences. To record and replay in our minds a wide variety of sights, smells, tastes, thoughts, feelings, emotions, energies, and experiences. The vast majority of humans seem to WANT to believe that we continue on after this one lifetime. And if we continue on, whether in body, mind, soul, or spirit…then we simply must have the ability to retain and recall experiences. And in order to fulfill that requirement, we NEED to have a body.

And so the cycle goes. Round and round in circles ;)

It is my contention, then, that there really is very little differentiation between a WANT and a NEED. That there is nothing making one more inherently virtuous than the other. It is a matter of perception.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on all of this!

Until next time…

Blessings and Hugs,

Tracy

THE POWER OF PRAYER OR SENDING POSITIVE ENERGY

PrayingI was thinking about the power of prayer, or the act of sending positive energy, this morning. Because of my upbringing in a very religious environment, and my own subsequent quest for Truth, I found that for several years I had a very hard time using the term “prayer”. It felt too distinctly “organized religion” based to me. Instead I chose to say “I’m sending positive energy” or Light and Love for Healing. Something along those lines.

However, while in the process of performing my work as a professional spiritual counselor I’ve discovered that many, many people, world wide, regardless of their belief system, still subscribe to the concept or notion of prayer.

While doing some online study on the subject I found this morsel of wisdom by Willis Partington, CSW, MDiv, MSSW in an unlikely location: www.lungcancer.org

“Prayer can be a wonderful way to be helpful to others. It is not even necessary to believe in God or a Higher Power to pray. Buddhists, for instance, do not believe in God according to the Western understanding of a divine being, but they pray nevertheless. You can think of prayer in its simplest form as sending out positive energy into the universe. Where this energy goes or what it does is more a matter of mystery than of science and is a topic of much debate. However, prayer considered as a form of complementary therapy certainly does not hurt and may be beneficial.

Praying for someone can be a way to help at times when it may appear that there is little you can do. You can pray for the person with cancer, for those who are caregivers, and even for the doctors who are providing the treatment. Prayer can be very powerful on many levels — emotional, physical, psychological and spiritual — both for the person who is praying and the person for whom the prayers are offered.”

I have always “prayed”…whether involved with a particular religion or as a sole spiritual practitioner. My style or form of prayer has changed and evolved over the years. What used to be a very formal and sometimes “by rote” practice has transformed into a much more casual, comfortable, and relaxed experience. I find that these days I’m in a state of constant prayer. Ever giving thanks for even the little things in my daily experience which I view to be a blessing. Frequently I find myself saying a spontaneous “Thanks!” out loud. Other times it is a quiet, inner sense of awe and gratitude. And sometimes I light a candle and spend time performing a private ritual for contemplation, sending well-wishes to those I care about and am thinking of. Much less often now, do I find myself “pleading” to a higher power for one particular thing or outcome, as I would in the past. Thinking back on what prayer used to be for me, I realize it was primarily a Wish List of things I wanted to happen or attract into my life. Or, many times, a plea that a certain ailment or event would NOT happen to me or my loved ones.

The above quote from Willis Partington made me reflect on how my own spiritual practice has changed over the years. I hadn’t really stopped to think about how much more comfortable I am with prayer now than I used to be. Nor had I given much thought to the ironic fact that I am much, much happier these days. Feeling much more empowered and self-sufficient. Not needing to plead with a higher power to “save” me so much as being in a constant state of gratitude. It’s interesting to observe.

Whatever your practice, be it formally getting down on your knees, counting beads, lighting candles, chanting a certain mantra, meditation, spending time in nature, or a momentary inner act of thanks-giving. Prayer and sending or focusing on positive energy for yourself or someone else’s benefit seems to do nothing but good. And in this beautiful, but sometimes traumatic, world of ours, there is still considerable need for the increase of goodness and Love.

Till Next Time.

THE BEGINNINGS OF A BOOK

Tracy April 29, 2014

The Beginnings of a Book…

In my work as a professional psychic and spiritual counselor I am frequently asked about soul mates; what they are, how to connect with them, etc. Many times people will tell me that they “think” their current partner is their soul mate, but that they aren’t sure. So they ask me to look at the energy surrounding them to confirm, one way or the other, whether the person they are in an intimate relationship with is, in fact, their soul mate.

I get this question so often that I thought it would be a good idea to give you my own definition of what a soul mate is, and then share my thoughts about why it can be highly beneficial to find yourself in a romantic relationship with your soul mate.

First, a little background. My own definition of the term soul mate is derived from personal experience and interaction with Spirit and the understandings I have come to as a result of that interaction. So, you will find that my definition differs from that of the traditional or accepted meanings.

According to dictionary.com soul mate is defined as:

noun – a person with whom one has a strong affinity.

Origin 1815-25 (based on the Random House Dictionary, © Random House, Inc. 2011)

And

noun – a person for whom one has a deep affinity, esp a lover, wife, husband, etc.

(Collins English Dictionary – Complete & Unabridged 10th Edition 2009 © William Collins Sons & Co. Ltd. 1979, 1986 © HarperCollins Publishers 1998, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009)

These definitions are a little vague, however, so let’s look a little deeper. I went to Wikipedia.com to see what information they had on the subject and found some interesting tidbits:

“A soulmate (or soul mate) is believed by some to be the person with whom one has a feeling of deep or natural affinity, similarity, love, intimacy, sexuality, spirituality, or compatibility. A related concept is that of the twin flame or twin soul, which is thought to be the ultimate soulmate. In New Age spirituality, the ultimate soulmate is the one and only other half of one’s soul.”

From my interactions with many people, I believe the Wikipedia definition of soul mate is the most commonly held understanding for the term…at least in western society. But a lot of people believe it goes much, much deeper than this. I’ll address the concept of “twin flames” a little later in the book. But back to Wikipedia

The entry goes on to talk about two other contributors to the historical definition of the term soul mate, and I think they are worth mentioning here:

1. “In his dialogue The Symposium, Plato has Aristophanes present a story about soulmates. Aristophanes states that humans originally had four arms, four legs, and a single head made of two faces, but Zeus feared their power and split them all in half, condemning them to spend their lives searching for the other half to complete them.”

I think this is a little “far out” for even the most liberal of New Age believers to accept as being the literal state of our existence…and sounds more like mythology than reality, to me.

2. “According to Theosophy, whose claims were modified by Edgar Cayce, God created androgynous souls—equally male and female. Later theories postulate that the souls split into separate genders, perhaps because they incurred karma while playing around on the Earth, or “separation from God.” Over a number of reincarnations, each half seeks the other. When all karmic debt is purged, the two will fuse back together and return to the ultimate.”

This sounds a little more believable, and is closer to my understanding of the contemporary definition of what a twin flame or twin soul is supposed to be, but even this definition is hard to swallow in the believability department. However, it leads directly into why my own definition makes so much more sense, so I’ll go ahead and share that with you now.

First and foremost, I am a very pragmatic and reality-based person. A skeptic by nature. So, any concept I’m confronted with has to pass my believability criteria before I can accept is as a strong contender for truth or reality. I have a built-in bullshit meter. The Plato story above I just dismiss as bullshit. It’s simply not believable enough, out the gate, to even merit any serious research.

The Theosophy/Edgar Cayce concept is a little different. On the surface it seems _plausible_ that who or whatever created the universe, and all that resides within it, including all the many freaky “alien” life forms we encounter on this planet (think about the bizarre creatures hiding in the depths of our oceans and you’ll begin to understand why I used that term!) could have chosen to create humans as androgynous beings. However, the experience I’ve had interacting with Spirit, combined with my own intuition, tells me that each sentient being is in possession of it’s own, unique soul. Or rather…that each soul is in possession of one human body, in a given lifetime.

So, setting all of the information above aside, here is my definition for the term soul mate. Keep in mind that I light-heartedly call this “The Gospel According to Tracy”, so if my explanation resonates with you, great! If not, I’m ok with that, too.

Let me start with Kindred Spirits…

You know those people you run into in life and feel an immediate connection with? The ones where you find yourself saying “I feel like I’ve known you forever!” Well, there’s a good reason for that. It’s because you HAVE! These are what I call Kindred Spirits. Kindred Spirits are people that you have a bond or contract with across multiple lifetimes. You’ve agreed to show up in one another’s lives for one reason or another. To be a support, or to facilitate the learning of a life lesson, or just to play a necessary role. We have all kinds of Kindred Spirit relationships. Some people play lesser roles and some play more significant roles. You might be someone’s mother in one lifetime, their neighbor in another, and a sibling or best friend in yet another. And vice versa. But the bottom line is, you’ve agreed to show up for one another. Some of these _may_ be romantic relationships…but they are not Soul Mate relationships, and there is a distinct difference, which I will get into a little later on in the book.

A Soul Mate is someone who, like a Kindred Spirit, you have a bond or contract with across multiple lifetimes, but the connection goes much, much deeper than that. This is a uniquely romantic, passionate, best-friend and eternal companion relationship. Not only have you agreed to show up in one another’s lives…you have committed to seek one another out for the specific purpose of sharing your life with one another in a very special and intimate way. This, in my opinion, is the true meaning and definition of Soul Mate.

A Soul Mate is not a twin flame…because you do not share one soul. You are each 100% complete individuals, unique in your own gifts, talents, and abilities. But the two of you are so aligned in your thinking that you are compatible in every way, intellectually as well as romantically. You are both able to lead fulfilling, rewarding, and successful lives independent of the other…but when your energies are combined your life experience is powerfully enhanced and magnified in a way that most people do not experience as a single individual.

So, to be clear; All Soul Mates are Kindred Spirits, but not all Kindred Spirits are Soul Mates. You may have thousands of Kindred Spirit relationships but only one Soul Mate.

To be continued….I’d love to hear your feedback ;)
